Be The Match.
This past fall, GiGi was diagnosed with Mendelian Susceptibility to Mycobacterial Disease (MSMD) a rare immunodeficiency syndrome. This means she develops infections more frequently and more severely for longer periods of time. Right now she’s on a treatment that is keeping her stable, but before the year is over she needs a blood stem cell transplant. This would cure her. A blood stem cell donation must come from a donor who matches GiGi’s tissue type – like finding her ‘genetic twin’. Getting a stem cell transplant will give GiGi a brand new and healthy immune system.
