Let’s Get Wicked Creative

“Creativity doesn't wait for that perfect moment. It fashions its own perfect moments out of ordinary ones”.

-Bruce Garrabrandt

Creating art
can be beneficial throughout all stages of life and has major health benefits for your Mind, Body, & Spirit.

It can help people express themselves in ways they may not be able to put into words.

It can help children learn to focus on something, while it may help an adult take their mind of something they are feeling stressed about, and has also proven to improve quality of life for seniors.

The creative process relieves stress, encourages creative & out of the box thinking, boosts self-esteem, utilizes imagination, can help be an intense release of emotion, and provides a sense of accomplishment.

“The arts are a critical component of healthcare. Expressive art is a tool to explore, develop and practice creativity as a means to wellness”.

-Wellarts Association

Art is objective. You do not need to identify as a professional artist to create and reap the benefits. As a matter of fact, I challenge YOU to step out of your comfort zone and SHOW OFF something that YOU have CREATED! I bet it’ll feel great. <3

This Opening Show is focused on “Setting Sail” and showing off uplifting artwork that looks forward to life after the pandemic and celebrates how you’ve gotten through these trying times as well as how you’re moving forward.

All art is welcome for submission! If your art does not fit the theme of this show you may still HAVE A SEAT AT THE TABLE and are welcome to showcase your art in our novice section!

Our first show is titled “Setting Sail” and is a collection of all female artists exploring ocean themes and ideas around re-launching themselves in a post-pandemic world. Creative Harbor is setting sail as a new arts studio, and we’re all individually setting sail as we widen our circles and visit more places and seeing more people than we have in the last year. A partial list of accepted artists are shown below on Creative Harbors Website.

The studio will be open the same hours as the Salem Arts Festival. The artist’s reception will be Friday June 4th from 5-8PM*. Several artists from the show will be in attendance for a meet and greet.

On Saturday and Sunday we are planning to be open from 11-4* and will update here as we receive more guidance from the festival team. We will defer to their hours if they are different. Start your Salem Arts Festival Experience with FREE PARKING here at Creative Harbor and we’ll direct your to the other events around town.

If you’re interested in participating, please click the button below and fill out the form to submit your artwork.

We want to offer children and immune compromised people an opportunity to experience the art in a way that makes them feel safe. On Friday there will be a preview where masks are required from 4-5 before the main event hours. On Saturday we will also open an hour early (10-11AM) for anyone who prefers to view the artwork while everyone in the studio is masked. All people who are not yet vaccinated will be asked to wear a mask if they visit. Please understand that as a small business navigating continually changing rules/regulations this is difficult to enforce. We will use the honor system and wish it was possible to please everyone!
